Polling conducted earlier this week shows that 57% of voters believe that passage of the legislation would hurt the economy, while only 25% believe it would help. That makes sense in a nation where most voters believe that increases in government spending are bad for the economy.

When the president responds that the plan is deficit neutral, he runs into a pair of basic problems. The first is that voters think reducing spending is more important than reducing the deficit. So a plan that is deficit neutral with a big spending hike is not going to be well received.

But the bigger problem is that people simply don’t trust the official projections. People in Washington may live and die by the pronouncements of the Congressional Budget Office, but 81% of voters say it’s likely the plan will end up costing more than projected. Only 10% say the official numbers are likely to be on target.

As a result, 66% of voters believe passage of the president’s plan will lead to higher deficits and 78% say it’s at least somewhat likely to mean higher middle-class taxes. Even within the president’s own political party there are concerns on these fronts.

A plurality of Democrats believe the health-care plan will increase the deficit and a majority say it will likely mean higher middle-class taxes. At a time when voters say that reducing the deficit is a higher priority than health-care reform, these numbers are hard to ignore.

The proposed increase in government spending creates problems for advocates of reform beyond the perceived impact on deficits and the economy. Fifty-nine percent of voters say that the biggest problem with the health-care system is the cost: They want reform that will bring down the cost of care. For these voters, the notion that you need to spend an additional trillion dollars doesn’t make sense. If the program is supposed to save money, why does it cost anything at all?

On top of that, most voters expect that passage of the congressional plan will increase the cost of care at the same time it drives up government spending. Only 17% now believe it will reduce the cost of care.

The final piece of the puzzle is that the overwhelming majority of voters have insurance coverage, and 76% rate their own coverage as good or excellent. Half of these voters say it’s likely that if the congressional health bill becomes law, they would be forced to switch insurance coverage—a prospect hardly anyone ever relishes. These numbers have barely moved for months: Nothing the president has said has reassured people on this point.

Unfortunately it looks like Costa Rica already has a similar system to the reform package that’s being discussed:

we all have access to knowledge about how to take care of our bodies so that we don’t get sick? They teach it to you in middle school in class called “Health” or “Wellness” or “PE”. Everyday the morning news spouts off about some new study that proves that more sleep = better immune system or that exercise will lower your risk of heart disease.
How come so many people are harping on the need for preventative care, when we already know what to do- and people still don’t do it ? Everyone knows that if you -Eat healthy foods, Exercise a few times a week, have good Hygiene… that you won’t get as sick as often…As far as diseases like Diabetes and Cancer—- Let’s’ talk to the FDA about that…Let’s have an FDA reform bill!
What else do people really want?…Are we asking the govt to use our tax dollars to give us more pamphlets to take home from the doctors office- to pay for us to have gym membership? I guess if people are fined- then they’ll stop being lazy and glutenous… or maybe they’ll just pay the fine…OK- point taken- I am young , but I have to say- that I still believe that many of the diseases we face today are because people don’t take care of themselves. Many more health problems, diseases, and illnesses are caused by the drugs that the FDA approves to treat the symptoms of lesser illnesses- and by the food that FDA deems as “safe”.
It’s not that I don’t wrry about getting really sick- because I don’t have insurance- I was denied for having gestational diabetes while pregnant within a year of applying. So I am sympathetic to some of what people have to say about Health Care Reform. I just think there is a better way to reform health care, and when we are talking preventative care- taking care of your body is a vital part of that.
It’s just that I realize that if people took better care of themselves all around, there would be less serious illness to pay for.

What is all this nonsense about people not getting “preventative” health care when?
They will sign a lifetime contract to buy Health Insurance and agree to be put in jail incase they fail to buy it. The contract will also affect the children and all future generation. YET, they don’t know exactly how much they will have to pay ?

I’m from New York and live in Atlanta now. I love hockey but think it’s sacreligious to have hockey in the southern states where nobody gives a crap unless their home team is a championship contender. Hockey in Florida? Tennessee? Arizona? Georgia? Texas? Southern Cal? Give me a break!

I vote to move the following southern teams back to the northern USA and Canada.

1. Phoenix – back to Winnipeg where they belong
2. Carolina – back to Hartford where they belong

Aside from Winnipeg and Hartford getting the teams back that they lost, I think the following cities are deserving based on a decent market, northern location and support of college / minor league hockey teams:

USA – Seattle, Salt Lake City, Bismarck – ND, Portland
CANADA – Saskatchewan (either Regina or Saskatoon), Hamilton-ON and Quebec City (Nordiques)

I agree that many are smaller markets and may not work. This suggestion was basically on principle (that southern teams should not have hockey), not entirely on market size.

Winnipeg will be getting a team soon though. It’s being discussed in the NHL right now.

Atlanta is in financial trouble right now as well as several of the southern teams I mentioned.

Florida Panthers do play in Sunrise but it’s the Miami area.

San Jose is not Southern Cal. It’s actually in the SF-Oak Bay area.

Ok, I’m a college Freshman, I do NOT live on campus(I go to Miami University-Hamilton campus, Hamilton, Ohio.) I work about 20 hours a week, and I have five classes for 15 hours. Plus, I have homework and household chores. So here is a lay down of my week LAST week to give you an example. And I want to work out to keep fit.

Sunday-Work 10-5, then come home and do some homework I still have to do, plus do laundry and dishes.
Monday-Class 8-9:15AM, work out, do homework, dishes and work from 5-9PM.
Tuesday-This is my big day….class from 9:30 AM til 6:40 PM, homework and laundry.
Wednesday-Class 8-9:15AM, work out, dishes, work from 5-9PM
Thursday-Class from 9:30AM-3:30PM, homework, dishes, laundry, etc.
Friday-FREE DAY! No work or school!
Saturday-Work from 11-6, homework, laundry, etc.

These websites, you basically answer a question. If you get an answer correct, a sponser donates 10 _____ to people who are hungry. Each student must donate 10,000 ____ a week, per website.

A Canned Food Fundraiser. Each child donates as many cans and they give them to hungy people all over.

Working with Grocery Store. The children take a field trip to those grocery stores and they each get $40.00 (Not really.) They have a shopping list and they buy each thing. Then they distribute it to this organazation, and the club distributes it to everywhere for less hungry people.

What should my step daughters school do?
Okay, I went with my friend to attend Sunday School/Sunday Services at the Ft. Lauderdale Baptist Church. I myself am an Atheist, and have been begging my friend to bring me, so I can actually see what goes on.

I’m actually quite interested in visiting and listening in on more services, (especially from other denominations, since this doesn’t seem to be the friendliest/most accepting).

Anywho… Sunday services went just as I expected them to. It was… (brainwashing is a harsh term), bible reading and interpretation. But the only person allowed to interpret it the way they wanted to, was the guy running it. Everyone else’s interpretation of what was going on, (when Peter leaves the Gentiles for the Jews(?)), was “wrong” in the eyes of this schmuck. He was making all these kids’ interpretation of the Bible, (which all sounded more logical and tolerant than the preacher’s), were 100% wrong and that they were talking out of their back-side. So I was very uncomfortable with what went on in there.

After that, we attended services. Now, keep in mind, that this church is ginormous, and could easily house victims of the Haiti earthquake much more comfortably than the Super Dome could a few years back. It was huge in here. I think it might be classified as a mega-church or super-church or whatever they call them. In taking an educated guess, I would estimate a 3,500-4,000 capacity.

They had a full band, (horn section, organ, piano, guitarist, bassist, 3 percussionists, plus a congo-player, and of course; the choir). Seeing all the old women happily and playfully singing in the choir was the only enjoyment I got out of being there.

After about 3-4 songs, the pastor came up with his wireless microphone and his [presumably] very expensive suit, and starts belittling EVERY SINGLE THING our, (America’s) Founding Fathers stood for. “This is a Christian nation!” “We need to get Christ back in school!” “This country was built upon Christian principles!!” He then goes on to give examples of presidents quoting the good book in their inaugural addresses. He then proceeds to use Dwight D. Eisenhower, (the same president that put “In God We Trust” on our money, and “…Under God…” in our Pledge of Allegiance), as a representative for this country’s religious views. He said that Thomas Jefferson wanted everyone to pray in the middle of congressional hearings, and that George Washington did similar things, especially in times of war.

I became so enraged with this man, I was sweating and I found myself making a fist with either hand. Though I knew he was 100% wrong about almost everything he said, I had to confirm it online and with my American History teacher yesterday. My teacher was laughing his d*ck off when I recited the Pastor’s words.

There was plenty more the Pastor spoke about, (American being symbolized in End-Times Prophecy in the Bible, symbolism of the Eagle, Spain’s Agnostic leader, among other things), but I’ll leave you with this.

Not don’t get me wrong, I know not all church’s are like this. I live in the south, (Florida), and this was a Baptist Church, but I had to share these religious atrocities and brain-washing schemes with you.P.K., I actually have a good friend in Utah I may visit sometime.

However, the prime time shows they’ve done (Mythbusters, Surviving Sharks, Dirty Jobs) Have done a good job of diversifying the field (Mike Rowe looking for a Greenland Shark in frigid weather, priceless!)

Google claimed to be hacked in China. They claimed

1. Not only Google, but other 34 companies are hacked at the same time
Since when companies report to Google when they are hacked?
Why there is no list of these “other” 34 companies?

2. Over 20 accounts belonged to human rights activists were hacked.
Was there a “Human Rights Activist” option under occupation when you sign up with Gmail?
Since when any company know what their customers do at their free time?

3. The hackers used a weakness in Internet Explorer.
Well I am not professional, but I am “expert” enough to know web (servers) do not use Windows based Operating Systems, let alone “Internet Explorer”.
What does a weakness of my front door locker have anything to do with the theft of your SUV?

4. Google traced the origin of hacking to two Chinese schools. Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Lancing Vocational School, who train computer technicians for the Chinese military.

Ok, Lancing Vocational School is a high school level institution. In China, only the top 1/3 middle school graduates are allowed into high school. Those who can’t get into high school will go to this kind of institution which train hairdressers, cooks, etc. low level professions.
All Chinese educational institutions would be on vocation during the time of hacking. Because of Chinese New Year, the winter break in China comes later than in the U.S.

So what is going on .. really?

I need to write a news article for 2 classes about international news and I usally write about how china is ticking me off I’ve done the google issue and and Dalli Llama what can I do?

SO how is China ticking me off this week?
Google is saying that they are pulling out of China because Google doesn’t want the Chinese government spying on human rights activists by using their services. Does anyone think this sounds kind of fishy? Why would a multi-billion dollar company lose billions of dollars just because their government is corrupt?

It sounds to me like it may be a money related issue. As for the whole “hacker attack” thing, I am thinking it’s a lie made up by Google to make themselves not look bad. They claim that a hacker attacked their database along with 30 other companies, this seems really hard to believe.

You remember the warnings, the demagoguery after Katrina, Al Gore’s movie and book and powerpoint slide – - global warming was going to mean more “hurricanes.” Then it was changed from “more” to “stronger” – still referring to “hurricanes.”

Technically, “hurricanes” refers to tropical storms in the Atlantic. Globally, such storms are called “cyclones.”

Globally, cyclone activity has declined even as sea surface temperatures rose:

Will they claim otherwise if we get a few seasons with a lot of Atlantic hurricanes but few Pacific and Indian Ocean cyclones, thus netting to a weak year for cyclone activity?Samsa and Step – that’s great that their models show this relationship but so far the real world hasn’t complied.

Why not?

When AGW proponents claimed that there would be more “hurricanes” did they mean globally or just the Atlantic?
Remember all the headlines pushed by the IPCC to the press stating things like:

Warm weather droughts caused by dangerous man made global warming… expect more
Hurricane Katrina powered by dangerous man made global warming… expect more
Polar bears will die because of dangerous man mad global warming… expect more
Sea levels will rise due to dangerous man made global warming… expect more
etc..

Did people make a judgement call and start to say… oh its very warm today this must be global warming. Was this an IPCC strategy to educate people into thinking they can judge local weather events and global warming for themselves?

Has this strategy back fired this winter? How could the IPCC have better thought out their global warming propaganda machine or did the press take the messages out of context… what could the IPCC have done about it?

Today, (Friday, February 12, 2010) the Politics in the Pub organised a debate “POST-COPENHEGAN – AUSTRALIA’S ETS – WHERE TO NOW?” Two good speakers were Dr. Mark Diesendorfe of University of Technology and Green MLC John Key. They made a beautiful presentation. They also dispelled lots of myths.

During the question time Sydney identity Faruque Ahmed asked the following question:

“Do you like to talk about The Influence of the neo-cons, Specifically Prejudice and Bigotry in the Climate Change Debate? Right now, the scientists are not talking. In fact the politicians, spin doctors, shock jocks, neo-cons, … who by the way got a very bad track record are in many ways steering the debate! They have removed the science and facts from the debate. In reality, they have cunningly injected prejudice and bigotry in this very important discussion. More or less, they are saying, this is a taxing the rich nations to pop up the corrupt and poorer African, Asian and Latin American countries! This is another way to destroy factories and farmers of Australia, … . Very emotive statements without any foundation whatsoever! To understand this situation we have to examine a carefully choreographed paranoia over `boat people’. Recently a few leaky boats are arriving in Australia with their cargo, e.g. refugees from Sri Lanka. Many of them are Christians, Buddhists, Hindus and not Muslims. However, due to the existence of a `memoranda of understanding’ between Australia and Indonesia, the Indonesian police have been rounding up `Mislim’ refugees from Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan who intend to sail for Australia! It was a lively discussion forum of Sydney. Unfortunately such open and live debates and discussions are not available in the Australian media! Last year, the shock jocks and spin doctors managed to change the leadership of a major political party over a totally false and jaundiced debate about the “Climate Change’ or `Global Warming”. Would you believe the main stream media outlets are cunningly preventing Sydney identity Faruque Ahmed from speaking up too!

Except for one semester in college when jobs were
scarce, and a six-month period when I was between jobs (but job-hunting every day), I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble, help them with their own money.

I’m tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe , the freedom of the press of China , the crime and violence of Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people of Iran , and the freedom of speech of Venezuela .

I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor;” of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers;” of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery;” of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls, all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.

I think it’s very cool that we have a black president, and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual, and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.

I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that thinks Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama, with three years as senator, as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures,” we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.

I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo, where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.

What do the human body and the planet earth have in common?

Water. If the human body has about two-thirds water, our planet has about 70% of it, which establishes the fact that water constitutes a major portion in both body masses. And that is what’s alarming. If 70% of the earth’s surface is made up of water, then humankind should have been very wary of anything that would pollute this major portion of the planet. Alas, the human race has done otherwise. Water pollution is now a global problem.

Today, water pollution is rampant and the chief source of water pollution is the human race. We are the very ones that need water most and, yet, we have polluted it, even to the brink of extinction.

There are many types of water pollutants but these can be segregated into four classifications: natural, agricultural, municipal and industrial pollutants. Natural water pollutants could include all the natural phenomena that happen from time to time such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes that cause major upheavals in the ocean floor and storms that cause flashfloods. Even global warming could be qualified as a cause of water pollution.

Agricultural pollution consists mainly of poultry and other agricultural animal wastes that are carelessly thrown off to bodies of water near farms. It could also be the fertilizers or pesticides that are used to make better crops, which erode into lakes, rivers or streams. Municipal wastes are those that come from residential areas. This is the liquid waste that households throw into bodies of water. Industrial pollution consists of all the wastes that major industrial firms chuck into the waters. This last classification is the most severe and most rampant among the three – and it is also the one that has caused the most damage. Industrial waste could include contaminants that are hard to take off from the waters once they spread – petroleum from oil spills or nuclear wastes.

The bodies of water in the world are in catastrophic danger, what with all the industries in the world today, plus our individual wastes all put together! No wonder mankind now drinks from bottles instead of just scooping water from running streams. The effects of water pollution to humanity is staggering. But we should also consider all the other life forms that suffer – the fishes and other animals such as birds, and plants. And what happens when humans eat the very fishes that live in polluted waters? Do you still want that answered?

But where there is life, there is hope. There is something that we can do – you can do – to save the only planet that we have.

What he could have done is given us the information to create penicillin or the vaccine for the bubonic plague which could have saved 10s of millions of lives or explained the orbit of the earth around the sun, in an attempt to give us a great leap forward in modern science. How about explaining global warming and how to prevent it from back then. And I’m sure you guys can think of many other ways he could have made some kind of real impact on society, rather than just impressing his friends.

Instead he performed magic tricks. Healed a few people here and there, walked on water and fed 5000 people. Where is the miracle there? Seems to me like Criss Angel would be a messiah for his magics, but even more so Alexander Fleming is for saving millions and millions of lives.

If Jesus really wanted us to believe in him, he would have left us with some information we didn’t already have.

I was watching the duggars family and there was this TV show from Korea who wanted to interview them, they were doing a series on big families because Korea’s birth rate is low and its causing a crisis in their country.

OK; first off. On one side Im hearing “AHH overpopulation! too many people! too many babies! were going to use up all the resources. We’re killing the world. Global warming! We are going to send ourselves to destruction. Don’t have more than 1 or 2 kids!”

And on the opposite side of the spectrum im hearing: “Oh no. Russia and korea have such a low birth rate. Such a low birth rates! People aren’t having enough babies. NO BABIES!! WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE”

More babies or less babies make up your damn mind! Are we killing the world or are we killing the economy?!

For years, people have been saying that hell would freeze over before the New Orleans Saints would ever win the Super Bowl.

On Sunday, February 7, 2010 The Saints won the Super Bowl.

On that same Sunday, Washington D.C. was paralyzed under several feet of snow and the Federal Government was shut down.

Well, at least we know where hell is now.

How long must we wait for good news?
I’ve been married 3 years. Every year we’ve used TurboTax to e-file our taxes. Every year we’ve gotten our taxes within two weeks of filing.

Last year, we bought our first house & qualified for the Home Buyer Credit ($7,200). We used Turbo Tax on February 2, 2010. When we finished, it gave us a message that said we had to print it off and mail it in to the IRS. I put it in the mail on February 4, 2010. Turbo Tax said it would take up to three weeks. It’s been four weeks. We’ve tried to track it on the IRS website using our SSN’s, but it says no information is available for us.

What’s going on? Where is our refund??Well…. if people needed the money to buy their houses, then why do they have to wait a until the next fiscal year to get the money

I have irregular periods, my last period was February 21st 2010. my period before that was December 9th 2009. I did a calculator that said i would ovulate sunday march 7th. well i started my OPK’s on wednesday. i took one wed, thurs, and today. Well each day they have gotten LIGHTER instead of darker. i take them in the afternoon like you are supposed to. So im wondering if i possible O’d tuesday maybe because my OPK on wednesday was alot darker compared to yesterday and todays opk’s. is this possible? that would have been CD 10 on tuesday.

Did this happen to you and you ended up pregnant?

i have sold an item recently, so are they charging me for that?
Becuase they said “monthly” payment, but i’ve been on eBay for about a year now, and i’ve never had to pay a monthly payment =S (however, this past month has been my first time selling though)

Why eBay is randomly charging me?
I signed a 6 month lease beginning November 1, 2009, that would end April 30, 2010. At the end of February I gave my 60 day notice. The landlord called me yesterday & left a message that my lease is up May 31, 2010. I looked at my lease & indeed it says it is for 6 months, but the date range is November 1, 2009 – May 31, 2010. Which is 7 months. Legally, what are my options? I want to leave at the end April, can I???

My lease has an conflicting information, 6 month lease, but dates cover 7 months?
I have 2 main rabbits, Cookie (male) & Buttons (female). I got Cookie from a pet shop (i know its wrong, but it was years ago, when I was 10, {I’m 12 now} and I didn’t know about shelters, rescues) and the staff never told us if he was vaccinated or not, and then I got Buttons almost 2 years ago from a friend who has been breeding rabbits for 5 years, and she said that each kit had been vaccinated.

And then Buttons had babies on the 7th February 2010 so they’re all 25 days old now. There’s 7 of them and I live in the UK and all will be staying in the UK, so there’s no mosquitos etc.

So do they need vaccinated? What vaccinations do they need? Isn’t it something called VHD, and Myxo. or something like that? What age should they get them? And how much would it cost to get 7 rabbits vaccinated?

- They’re being sold at 6 weeks old to seperate owner, so if each of their new owners are keeping them inside then they won’t need vaccinated. If the owners are gonna keep them outside then they can vaccinate them.

- I’m keeping one of the kits, and they all stay inside, they’ve NEVER lived outdoors, and only get out for a few hours a day in the summer. So the kit I choose to keep, will it need vaccinated if it’s indoors where no wild rabbits can pass on diseases to it?

Do baby rabbits need to be vaccinated if they live in the UK? If so, at what age?
My month in detail TTC. I know a lot of people said that I am either making this up in my head or that I am tricking myself into believing I could be pregnant but some of the things I couldn’t possibly make up such as the spotting, cramping, and pulling feeling. What do you think? Could this be my month?

3. BDed Feb 14, 15, 17, and 18 (two times)(Laid with hips elevated for 30 minutes after each BD)

9. 12dpo Light pink bloody mucus when I wiped after using the bathroom (went again two hours later and nothing!)

11. Headaches on and off since ovulation date

12. Increase in apatite (I have refrained from eating junk food though I am craving it)

13. Really terrible and frequent gas lately (My husband noticed this)

I took the Clear Blue Digital Pregnancy Test on the 28th of February and a cheap Dollar Tree test this morning. My period isn’t due until tomorrow but if it doesn’t come on time should I wait until the day after to test? And no I am not stressing myself out about this. I am making it “fun”. Any advice is welcome.
